Among the most highly regarded of heirloom fibers, alpaca fleece is warmer, softer, and stronger than wool – similar in feel and value to fine cashmere. Working with and wearing alpaca will spoil you for any other fiber experience.

 

We try to “let every fleece tell us what it wants to become.”  Long stapled, silky soft fiber wants to spin up into a luscious fingering or lace weight yarn. Some fleeces become three-ply sport weight, others rug yarn.  Some are spun up naturally, others blended with colored wool or bamboo.  Some are hand spun, others commercially spun. Our roving, yarns and rug yarns -- from alpacas we can name -- are simply a delight to work with.

 

It’s a joy creating one-of-a-kind treasurers with local fiber artists using our own fiber. Purchase our “Sophia” scarf and then go into the pasture to meet her. Take home one of our braided or woven rugs made from Hudson, Honor Code, and Vicente.  Additionally we carry select sweaters, scarves, caps, gloves, socks and toys imported through friends in Peru.
