Welcome to Sage Bluff Alpacas

Sage Bluff Farm -- Nestled near historic Prosser, Washington, the heart of Yakima Valley wine country.

Our dreams have become reality!  Five years ago we fell in love with alpacas, and alpaca people, purchasing our first huacayas in the fall of 2006.  Two years later we acquired the Ely family homestead, remodeled the farmhouse and adapted the acreage to accommodate our growing herd.

We brought our alpacas and pyrenees home in the summer of 2009, and now enjoy welcoming visitors to Sage Bluff Farm.  Call us to schedule your farm visit.  We look forward to meeting you and sharing the remarkable alpaca lifestyle!

Mission Statement

· To breed alpacas of exceptional conformation, fleece and disposition
· To form strong bonds with new and existing breeders, sharing knowledge to equip success
· To support the growth of our national livestock and fiber industries
· To have a blast doing it

Farm Store - Welcome to Sage Bluff’s Farm Store

Among the most highly regarded of heirloom fibers, alpaca fleece is softer, warmer and stronger than wool -- similar in feel and value to fine cashmere.

ImageSage Bluff's "Vintage" Alpaca Collection searches out the very highest quality, gently used heirloom garments, to offer you classic style, timeless quality and affordable luxury.  Fashions are available for men and women in our farm store, and may also be found seasonally at the Sixth Street Gallery in historic downtown Prosser.

Our Farm Store proudly offers alpaca blankets by Pendleton made with US grown alpaca fiber, ours included!  Our imported and domestic alpaca socks, caps and mittens make welcome gifts.  We have recently added new lines of luxurious sweaters and accessories imported from Peru.

We are delighted to offer hand-loomed rugs made from our own alpaca fiber. These beautiful rugs are available in a variety of sizes and colors, and make handsome accents for the traditional or contemporary home or office.  We can also custom design rugs to your specifications for color and size.

Our "Tack Store" features alpaca care and handling items for the new and experienced breeder.  Zephyr halters, leads, herding wands, cria coats and more are in stock at all times.

Until our on-line store is up and running, please phone or email with your inquiries.  We’ll get back to you promptly!

Our Story...

Jen and RockyLike many other alpaca enthusiasts, we fell in love with alpacas and alpaca people during a visit to our community Farmer’s Market.  It was there we met local breeders who introduced us to these remarkable animals and their engaging lifestyle.  After months of research and talking with countless breeders across the country, we were convinced of the financial benefits and enjoyable lifestyle alpacas afford.

We approach alpacadom as a team. With John flying commercially, his days off are spent in farm management and alpaca care.  Jennifer, retired from the corporate hustle, enjoys the marketing side of the business, as well as the daily hands-on care of the herd.  Both have attended Camelidynamics clinics with Marty McGee Bennett.  Jennifer has earned the Camelidynamics Handler’s Seal.

The hallmarks of this great adventure, for us, are Passion, Excellence and Integrity.  We love our alpacas, and our alpaca friends.  We love our rural lifestyle.  We’d love to share that with you.

When you visit our farm, you may also enjoy the 30+ wineries in our area, as well as our many fine restaurants and fun shopping.  Want to stay?  Our guest room is available, as well as several comfortable hotels and delightful B&Bs.

When you visit, expect to be thoroughly enchanted by these engaging animals; expect to enjoy relaxing conversation and welcome refreshments; expect to have your questions answered and your desires met; expect to fall in love with alpacas, and, hopefully, alpaca people!
